Use This Time to Teach Responsibility
Families are cooped up at home as they practice social distancing. Why not use this time to teach your child responsibility and independence? Teaching children to do chores, such as dishwashing and laundry, might get pushed aside in our otherwise hectic schedules. Yet, with more downtime, we can finally instill these positive behaviors in our children.
Why Responsibility Matters
When children act responsibly, they feel empowered, confident, useful, and independent. They play a key role in helping the household run smoothly, which makes them feel more connected to their families and their home. When we trust children with responsibilities, we show them that we believe they are mature enough to handle them. Even better, children will take these skills into adulthood.
